Emergency Surgery — When Every Hour Matters

If your pet has been hit by a vehicle, is bleeding heavily, can't breathe normally, or has a swollen, painful abdomen — call us immediately.

Call First, Always

If you suspect a true emergency, call +91 77569 65169 before you travel — we'll tell you what to do on the way and prepare the surgical team if needed. Don't wait to see if symptoms improve on their own.

Conditions That Need Immediate Surgical Attention

  • Gastric dilatation-volvulus (GDV / bloat) — a swollen, hard abdomen in dogs is a life-threatening emergency
  • Severe trauma from vehicle accidents or falls
  • Internal bleeding (pale gums, weakness, collapse)
  • Deep penetrating wounds or impalement injuries
  • Difficulty breathing combined with chest trauma
  • Dystocia (difficult birth) requiring emergency C-section

What We Do On Arrival

Emergency cases are assessed immediately on arrival — vital signs, pain stabilization, and rapid in-house diagnostics (X-ray, ultrasound, bloodwork) to identify the problem without delay. If surgery is needed, we move directly into the operating suite. Having lab, imaging, and surgical capability all on-site means we're not sending you elsewhere to wait for answers during a crisis.

Common Signs to Watch For

Hard, swollen abdomen with retching but nothing coming up
Pale or white gums
Collapse or inability to stand
Heavy bleeding that won't stop with pressure
Severe difficulty breathing
Visible bone or open fracture after trauma

Frequently Asked Questions

Are you open for emergencies on Wednesday (your day off)?
Wednesday is our scheduled weekly off for routine visits, but call the clinic number for any true emergency — we will guide you on next steps.
What is GDV and why is it so urgent?
GDV (bloat) is when the stomach fills with gas and twists on itself, cutting off blood supply. It progresses within hours and is fatal without emergency surgery — a hard, swollen abdomen with unproductive retching needs immediate attention.
Should I try to treat bleeding at home first?
Apply firm direct pressure with a clean cloth while traveling to us, but don't delay the trip to experiment with home remedies — call us en route so we're ready when you arrive.
Do you have in-house diagnostics for emergencies?
Yes — X-ray, ultrasound, and lab bloodwork are all on-site, so we can identify the problem within minutes of arrival rather than waiting on outside results.
